Investigation of Mobile Application Use Habits of Individuals over 60 Years Old

Year 2020, Volume: 3 Issue: 2, 195 - 212, 28.12.2020

Abstract

When the daily life choices, can be carried out over the internet as the common area of the new media, are diversified, the users of internet are also become varied independent of barriers such as internet usage age, education-income level and the number of users are increasing day by day. Individuals over the age of 60, who are among the risk groups most affected by the Covid-19 outbreak, have to eliminate many basic needs at home during the pandemic process. In this study, the interface design features of mobile applications aimed at individuals over 60 years-old or with the features that can be used by them, was examined through the researches in the literature. As a result of the review, it was observed that elderly users use mobile applications primarily for security, emergencies, information and communication. Since they have different mental and physical problems compared to young users, it was observed that they have various usage difficulties and should be supported in mobile technologies. Supporting users over the age of 60 with the right mobile interfaces and design solutions in line with their physical and mental needs has made it easier for older users to use mobile technology and contribute to improving their quality of life.

60 Yaş Üstü Bireylerin Mobil Uygulama Kullanım Alışkanlıklarının İncelenmesi

Year 2020, Volume: 3 Issue: 2, 195 - 212, 28.12.2020
