Şimdi ve Gelecek için Farkındalık Yaratıcı Çevreci Belgesel Filmler

Öz

Birçok canlıya ev sahipliği yapan dünyamız, atmosferinde daha önce görülmemiş miktarda sera gazının artışı sonucu tüm canlıların yaşamını olumsuz etkileyen bir iklim krizi yaşamaktadır. Artan hava sıcaklıklarıyla eriyen buzullar, yükselen deniz seviyesi, doğal felaketler ve insan faaliyetleri, orantısız fosil bazlı enerji ve gıda tüketimi sonucu yıkıcı doğa katliamları ve biyolojik çeşitlilik kaybı giderek artış göstermektedir. Bilim insanları ekolojik döngüyü düzeltmek için önümüzdeki on yıl yapılacaklara dikkat çekmektedir. Toplumu belirli bir amaç konusunda bilgilendirmek, bilinçlendirmek ya da yönlendirmek için kitle iletişim araçları arasında televizyon ve sinema önemli bir rol oynamaktadır. Bu araştırma, tüm canlılar için yaşanabilir ve adil bir dünyanın oluşabilmesi, yaşam çeşitliliğinin korunabilmesi için nitelikli ve öğretici bir görsel iletişim biçimi olarak belgesel filmler üzerinden farkındalık yaratmayı amaçlamıştır. Araştırma, Sanayi Devrimi ile başlayan endüstrileşme sürecinin etkilerini “Geçmiş” başlığı altında, yaşadığımız çevresel sorunların ve buna bağlı gelişen toplumsal problemlerin belgesel filmler üzerinden irdelendiği bölüm olan “Şimdi” ve yaşanabilir yarınlar için yapılması gereken önlemlerin anlatıldığı “Gelecek” başlığı altında incelemektedir. Seçilen belgesel filmler, fosil ve endüstriyel atıkların çevreye ve tüm canlılara olan olumsuz etkilerini, tüketim odaklı hızlı gelişen endüstrinin yarattığı adil olmayan çalışma koşullarını ve bu bağlamda yaşanan insanlık dramlarını, sosyal adalet ve sürdürülebilir çözüm önerilerini kapsamaktadır. Görsel iletişim yoluyla yaratılabilecek farkındalık düzeyi ve sonuçları; tekstilden elektroniğe, topraktan okyanuslara kadar farklı çevresel içerikler kapsamında incelenen belgeseller, söylem analizleri ve zengin bir alan yazın taramasıyla ortaya koyulmuştur. Bu araştırmada, çevresel odaklı belgesellerin gösterimleri yaygınlaştıkça insanların var olan alışkanlıklarının ve davranışlarının olumlu yönde değişeceğine inanılmaktadır.

Awareness Raising Enviromental Documentary Films for the Present and the Future

Öz

Our planet which hosts numerous creatures is going through a climate crisis as a result of greenhouse gas accumulation leading to a negative effect on the lives of all living beings. Melting glaciers due to increasing air temperatures, rising sea levels, natural disasters and human activities along with nonproportional fossil-based energy and food consumption all lead to devastating nature massacres and an increase in the loss of biological variety. Scientists emphasize the importance of actions to be taken during the next decade in order to correct the ecological cycle. Among the mass media, television and cinema undertake a significant role in informing, raising the awareness or directing the society towards a specific goal. This research aims to raise the awareness about the creation of a livable and fair world, preservation of diversity of life through documentary films as a deductive and informative visual communication form. The research investigates the effects of the industrial process which initiated with the industrial revolution under the topic of ‘Past’, environmental problems of the present time and corresponding social issues addressed over documentary films under the topic of ‘Present’ and precautions to be acquired with the intention of forming a livable future under the topic of ‘Future’. The selected documentary films comprise the unfavourable impacts of fossil and industrial waste on the environment and all living beings, the unfair working conditions caused by the comsumption of rapid developing industry and in this regard the emerging humanity dramas, social justice and sustainable solution proposals. Documentaries examined within the context of varying environmental contents from textile to electronics, from earth to oceans were presented with discourse analysis and a substantial literature review. This research assumes that the existing attitude and habits of human beings will be diverted in a positive direction as the presentation of environmentally focused documentaries become prevalent.
